The aim of this application is to enhance the visitor’s museum experience in an informative way where the user gets to learn more about the painting presented in front of them along its creator in a user-friendly manner accompanied with a 3D model. Hence, an augmented reality Android application was developed to mimic a portable guide who sheds a light on the origin, historical and aesthetic side of the art works. The application provides the user with two options for information digestion. Either through a visual guide where they could read and understand more on the background of the paintings, their art style and their painters, or through an audio guide that vocalises the content provided. Unity and Vuforia SDK were used to implement the augmented reality aspect of the application. All audios used were converted from text to speech and imported. A 3D model was used and its animation was adopted from Mixamo.
